White Balance Screen
Setting the white balance properly with no color cast is crucial when capturing processed image formats, such as HEIF and TIFF. Have full control over white balance and tint settings with Camera M White Balance Screen.
Overview
iOS White Balance Modes
iOS camera hardware has three main white balance modes:
Auto white balance continuous
Auto white balance
Locked white balance
By default, when first launched, Camera M is in auto white balance continuous mode. Depending on the scene changes, camera hardware continuously adjusts white balance. When white balance mode is locked, temperature and tint gauges are shown in orange color. White Balance lock/auto button turns to a lock symbol to indicate the white balance mode is locked.
White Balance Presets
These presets allow quick access to set a specific white balance setting without adjusting any temperature or tint values directly. When White balance presets button is pressed, it will expand into five preset choices and preselect the choice closest to current white balance values. Tint resets to 0 for all these presets.
Tungsten - 3200 Kelvin
Flourescent - 4000 Kelvin
Daylight - 5200 Kelvin
Cloudy - 6000 Kelvin
Shade - 7000 Kelvin
White balance presets are not available under certain circumstances, for example, with Depth mode, Dual/Triple Photo mode, etc. This is due to the use of Dual or Triple camera which does not have the manual white balance capability.
Temperature Adjustment
White balance temperature is measured in Kelvin units and ranges 2000 - 10,000 Kelvin.
Touch inside camera preview area and drag up or down to adjust white balance temperature. White balance temperature gauge indicates the temperature applied in Kelvin units.
Swipe or flick up or down to use intertia to move in bigger strides.
If Magic Trackpad is used on iPad, swipe up or down using two fingers.
Touch and hold inside camera preview area to reset white balance mode to auto.
Manual white balance temperature adjustment is not available under certain circumstances, for example, with Depth mode, Dual/Triple Photo mode, etc. This is due to the use of Dual or Triple camera which does not have the manual white balance capability.
Tint Adjustment
White balance tint ranges from green to red and has 150 units in each direction.
Touch inside camera preview area and drag left or right to adjust white balance tint.
Swipe or flick left or right to use intertia to move in bigger strides.

White Balance Reset
There are multiple ways to reset white balance mode back to auto on Camera M.
Touch and hold inside camera preview area.
Tap on White balance lock/auto button.
Touch and hold on White Balance button on Control Center.
If a keyboard is used on iPad, press command + R.
Manual Gray Card Mode
Gray card white balance gives the ultimate control over setting the white balance. With certain complicated lighting situations, using a neutral color from the environment to set the white balance becomes the best option. Using a 50% gray color card is highly recommended.
Tap on Gray card button.
Position neutral color in the center of the preview area.
Make sure the color fills the complete center cutout area.
Make sure the are is a solid netural gray color and not underexposed or overexposed.
Tap on Okay button to set the new white balance value
Tap on Close button if using this function is not desired.

Histogram
Camera M contains an RGB histogram to assist with seting the white balance. Tapping on Histogram button brings up RGB histogram and tapping on it would switch to a luminance histogram if needed.
Histogram function is not available under certain circumstances, for example, with Depth mode, Dual/Triple Photo mode, etc.
For maximum energy savings, avoid using histogram feature for an extended period.
